JOB DESCRIPTION

My client, a leading provider of catering and facilities services, is currently seeking an experienced Relief Head Chef based in Co. Waterford

Position Overview:


As the Relief Head Chef, you will play a key role in delivering smooth, high-quality food service at a contract catering unit in Lismore, Co. Waterford. You will lead the kitchen team in producing fresh, consistent, and well-presented meals in a fast-paced, well-structured environment.

This role is ideal for an experienced Head Chef who can step in confidently, manage high-volume service, and maintain the highest standards of food safety, hygiene, and quality. Strong leadership, organisational ability, and a hands-on approach are essential to motivate your team and ensure daily operations run reliably and efficiently. This is a fantastic opportunity for a committed professional available for an immediate start, ready to bring their skills to a dynamic and supportive contract catering setting.

This is a full-time position offering a competitive hourly rate of €20–€22, with working hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on a flexible schedule of any 5 days over 7. Strong leadership, organisation, and a hands-on approach are essential to motivate your team and ensure operations run smoothly.

Requirements:


• Immediate availability to start.
• Proven experience working as a Head Chef in a professional kitchen.
• Valid Manual Handling and HACCP Level 2 certification.
• Good spoken and written English.
• Culinary Arts degree required
Full right to work in Ireland.
• Own safety shoes and chef whites required.

Responsibilities:


• Prepare and cook high-quality meals to set standards.
• Ensure consistent food presentation and portion control.
• Maintain strict hygiene and safety standards, including daily HACCP Level 2 compliance.
• Oversee and complete cleaning and prep work to maintain a safe, organised kitchen.
• Manage inventory and perform regular stock takes.
• Handle ordering and receiving of supplies, including preparing and processing purchase orders.
• Organise daily kitchen operations to deliver reliable, efficient service.
• Lead and motivate team members to ensure a smooth workflow.
