My client, a leading provider of catering and facilities services, is currently seeking a Weekend Catering Assistant to join a dedicated kitchen team in a retirement facility based in Cahir, Co. Tipperary

Position Overview:

As the Weekend Catering Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, nutritious meals within a residential care facility based in Cahir, Co. Tipperary. This hands-on role involves preparing and serving breakfast and lunch to residents, ensuring meals are well-presented and tailored to individual dietary needs. You will also be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and compliant kitchen environment in line with food safety standards. Working closely with a small kitchen team, you’ll contribute to smooth daily operations and help create a positive, respectful dining experience for residents.

This role is ideal for someone with previous experience in a catering or food service setting and who is looking for reliable weekend work in a supportive, care-focused environment.

The position operates on a weekend-only schedule, with shifts on Saturday and Sunday, running from either 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM or 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The role offers a competitive hourly rate of €16 to €17, depending on experience, and weekly pay. Requirements:

• Proven experience in a catering or food service role is essential
• Strong understanding of food hygiene, kitchen safety, and allergen awareness
• Comfortable working independently and managing time effectively in a busy environment
• Professional, respectful, and empathetic attitude, especially when working in a care setting
• Availability for weekend shifts only (Saturday & Sunday)
• Must be based within commuting distance of Cahir, Co. Tipperary

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch to residents, ensuring presentation and dietary requirements are met
• Assist in setting up and clearing service areas in a timely and efficient manner
• Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, following hygiene and health & safety protocols
• Carry out daily and weekly cleaning tasks, including equipment, surfaces, and storage areas
• Ensure compliance with HACCP standards and follow all food safety guidelines
• Communicate effectively with residents and team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations
• Support stock rotation and kitchen organisation
