JOB DESCRIPTION

My client, a leading provider of catering, retail, and facilities support services, is seeking an experienced General Manager

Position Overview:


As General Manager, you will oversee the full operational delivery of catering, retail, and support services within a busy, multi-outlet site in Waterford. This is a strategic and hands-on role where you’ll lead diverse teams, ensure service excellence, manage budgets, and maintain full compliance with food safety and health & safety standards.

You will work closely with both internal teams and on-site client representatives to deliver high-quality, customer-focused services across all departments. The ideal candidate will have proven General Manager experience in food service and retail environments, with healthcare sector experience considered a strong advantage.

This is a full-time, permanent role with a structured Monday to Friday schedule (8:00 AM – 5:30 PM) and offers a competitive salary of €45,000 – €50,000 per year, depending on experience.

This is a permanent role, which will involve working for my client directly on a permanent basis, this is not an agency or short term role. I am assisting my client in finding suitable candidates to work for them directly.

Requirements:


• Minimum 5+ years of General Manager experience across retail, food service, and/or healthcare environments
• Proven ability to lead large, multi-disciplinary teams across multiple service lines
• Strong commercial acumen with experience in budgeting, cost control, and reporting
• In-depth knowledge of HACCP, food safety, and health & safety standards
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a proactive, customer-first approach
• Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and deliver consistently high standards

Responsibilities:


• Lead the full operational delivery of catering, retail, and support services across a multi-unit site
• Develop and mentor staff to ensure performance excellence, team engagement, and compliance
• Maintain top-tier standards in food quality, hygiene, and safety across all service areas
• Manage financials: budgeting, reporting, cost control, and achievement of KPIs
• Act as the primary point of contact for client representatives on site
• Ensure staff scheduling, training, and performance management are aligned with business needs
• Promote a culture of innovation, service excellence, and continuous improvement
